Inconceivable!

If my cell phone company wasn’t such a stinky big corporate cash sucking pig, I might have had some grainy phone pictures to share with you. Instead, you will have to trust me when I say that I got a good picture of Rick smiling in the evening sun. We were at the Open Space, a large grassy knoll that sits next to a large bay, for an outdoor viewing of “The Princess Bride.” A large air-filled screen stood facing us, as the crowd lay sprawled on blankets and lawn chairs.

Rick and I pulled together our loose one dollar bills and bought freshly popped popcorn, Raisinettes and a Coke to wash down the salty sweetness. The cool evening air was an oddity as all of our summer nights have been balmy and suffocating. It felt good to sit next to Rick with my head leaned on his fleecy shoulder, a blanket wrapped around my legs.

The crowd was fantastic as well. The adults behaved and the children sat content watching a movie that I adored when I was a kid. For many I think that it was probably their first time seeing the movie, and I thought to myself, “what a great memory in the making for all of these little people.” The big people who have seen the movie many times clapped in all of the right places and laughed heartily at all of the witty lines.

It was what I would call a successful evening and it made me excited for the day when Ava is old enough to take her with us.
