Bad Enzyme! Bad, Bad Enzyme!

It's a disconcerting thing when your doctor tells you that he wants to send your little one to a specialist. Our tiny little Ava had to endure most of this afternoon being poked and prodded. She didn't take too kindly to the Q-tip being shoved into her backside's southern region. I can't imagine that many of us would. Lights were shined into every hole in her head, and mom nearly passed out when her brave little blood donor filled not one, but two giant syringes. This weekend we get the fun task of trying to obtain a urine sample from a not so docile one year old. According to the specialist many more tests are to come...all because of some pesky little enzymes.

Apparently, she has an outrageous enzyme count in her liver which can indicate many, many things all of which sound very bad to a mother. Best case scenario, she has a vitamin D deficiency which we are immediatley addressing with healthy doses of moo juice. Worst case, I'm not so sure yet but the words, "liver diseases," didn't make me sit any easier.

So- any enzyme experts out there, or at least any helpful hints for running down a one year old and making her pee in a cup?

I've never heard of such a thing. Did the doctor give you more than one possibility or just start with the extremes? (i.e. vitamin deficiency in one corner, liver disease in the other). For the record, I've never heard of a one year old having liver disease. I can't imagine the worry that you must be having regardless though.:(

Hmm - another 'Mom' comment...
Wonder why it is I find this info here and not from the child, herself?

Hey, hope it all works out okay. Make sure the moojuice is whole milk, more fat content! Momouk - with your new found faith maybe you can find a better way to bridge this gap.
