Midnight Runner...well not really

This summer, I have been slowly but surely trying to remold myself into the runner that I used to be. It was a struggle at first not only physically, but spiritually. I used to be able to run five to ten miles at a time just for the fun of it. Sure it was still work, but I was a runner and runners’ minds think just a little differently. It was only five miles, and if I wasn’t out there after a day or so I would be going stir-crazy with the need to run.

Fast forward to this past spring. A tiny whisper in the back of my mind became restless and turned to a shout. After having gone too long without moving, I decided to quit dabbling with the occasional jog. It was time to get serious and start laying down some distance. The first mile nearly killed me, but I knew that if I could only get past the wanting to die part I’d be on the right path. So I have persisted and slowly I have been getting a little closer to where I want to be. Finally, the runner in me is beginning to breathe a little sigh of relief.

The other night I took my first late night run ever. My favorite time to run is in the morning or the evening, but this summer has been especially hot and humid and the temperature is still soaring after seven p.m. However, just as the sun sets around nine the mercury finally sinks just enough to make running bearable. Sure I have to cover myself in every article of reflective clothing I own, but when else can you have the fireflies cheer you across the finish line of your last mile?

Sorry, it took me nearly two weeks to pull a post together, but I suppose the heat makes everyone including me just a little more sluggish!

I need a cocktail and a nap after reading that. Oh, but you keep it up. I'm, uh, envious is not the word, maybe impressed, yes, that's it, impressed that you can run.

Oh, and the blog loads funny on my computer, too. I'm using a 15" PB G4 with Safari. Does the same on Netscape. The center column is shoved down at the bottom of the page.

yeah, I noticed that it loads funny on Macs but I just can't seem to muster up the gumption to figure out how to fix it. I promise I will try to soon though!
